#7 Shoes!

I have 22 pairs of shoes.  If aliens were to storm into my closet, I think they would be confused by my style.  I like to wear sneakers on a day to day basis, but I absolutely love wearing heels!  I may have a lot of shoes, but I realized that they've all had their time--some are either worn out or too small.  I don't buy shoes frivolously.

#6 Thoreau's Farm = Jail?

"It makes but a little difference whether you are committed to a farm or the county jail."

In this quote,  Thoreau compares a farm to a jail.  Acquiring a farm means acquiring plenty of responsibilities.  You must take care of your produce and animals daily.  Just like a prisoner, farmers have the same routine day by day.  It is almost like it becomes a chore to take care of your farm.  I found it strange how he related a farm to a prison though, because you are surrounded by nature on a farm, whereas in a prison you are boxed in by the same four walls.  It becomes difficult to appreciate what you love when it is your job.

#5 Thoreau Drummer Quote

"If man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.  Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."

Thoreau is using the expression "keeping pace" as a metaphor of thinking similarly.  One should not be judged for thinking differently--march to the beat of your own drum.  Every one is unique.

#4 Favorite Season

I love the hot summer rays beaming onto my skin.  Unless there's humidity out, I almost feel like I can never get too hot on a nice summer day.  I love the freedom and relaxation I have and being able to go to the beach.   I love diving into the water when it's burning out.

#3 Nathaniel Hawthorne Quote

"Words -- so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them."

Words alone don't have much meaning, but once they are put together, they have a stronger voice.  The tone in which a words are said can have more or less of an effect on someone.

#2 Autobiography

My autobiography would be called For Lack of a Better Word, because I often have the feeling that I don't give everything my all.  When you use something for lack of a better word, it shows that you are not trying hard enough or giving your best.
